A special education teacher at a small elementary school in Burlington County has been charged for allegedly sexually touching seven students over several years.

Officials with the New Jersey Forest Fire Service say they are battling a new wildfire in the Pine Barrens along the Burlington-Ocean County line.

A 22-year-old Pemberton Township man was sentenced Friday to four years in prison for killing one of his best friends in a drunken car crash two years ago.

A resident was struck in Friday in the street at the intersection of Gilbert and Kester Streets on the grounds of a 2,000 acre Burlington County facility by a vehicle that immediately left the scene, according to State Police.

State Police do not have a description of the vehicle that hit the woman, or know whether a rain storm at the time played a role in the incident.

The fire could also be smelled in parts of Ocean County as winds blew Thursday night and early Friday out of the southwest.

As the 1,000-acre fire in the Pine Barrens continues to burn itself out, it's unlikely whoever started the blaze with carelessly disposed of charcoal briquettes will ever be charged.
