Thousands Flock to Funny Farm Animal Rescue in Mays Landing, NJ, For Spring Festival
The weather was absolutely perfect as thousands of people flocked to Funny Farm Animal Rescue in Mays Landing for their annual spring festival on Sunday.
While the exact number of people who visited the farm isn't known, folks there said it was their, "largest event in the history of the Funny Farm."
Cars were parked as far as the eye could see in every direction around the farm and also at a satellite lot at St. Augustine Prep as people of all ages showed their support for one of the most heartwarming organizations in South Jersey.
Vendors, crafters, and food trucks covering countless culinary tastes were set up across the grounds, giving people a chance to sample businesses from across the area -- not to mention the hayrides, face painting, live music, and more all as animals freely meandered amongst the spectators.
And that's the best part about Funny Farm -- you might be waiting in line for a snack and a donkey will be standing right next to you. Or a chicken. Or a goose. Or a goat.
If you have not ever visited Funny Farm in Mays Landing, it's down a side street on the outskirts of Mays Landing, far removed from downtown. Once you walk up the driveway, there are around 600 rescued animals of all shapes and sizes from all walks of life all living their best lives possible.
Funny Farm Rescue & Sanctuary has created a home for unwanted farm animals, domesticated animals and animals with special needs to live out their natural lives.
And unlike a zoo, many of them roam freely. And also unlike many zoos, it's free to enter. To support the farm and its animals, you can buy buckets of food, a souvenir, or just make a donation.
The farm is a true hidden gem in our area.
If you have never been there, Funny Farm is open Sundays and Tuesdays from 8 to 4 at 6908 Railroad Blvd., in the Mizpah section of Mays Landing. Be sure to check their Facebook page for information on upcoming events and more.
