Three Teenagers Arrested, Real and Fake Handguns Recovered in Atlantic City
Atlantic City Police arrested three teenagers Wednesday night and they recovered real and fake guns in the process.
The Atlantic City Police Department says around 11:00 Wednesday night, a detective attempted to speak to a group of people at Pennsylvania and Arctic Avenues in reference to a robbery investigation. As the detective approached, a 17-year-old male ran away; he was eventually apprehended in a parking lot in the 1000 block of Arctic Avenue. While attempting to place him in custody, cops say a person from the group, identified as 18-year-old Shamera Marreo of Atlantic City, attempted to interfere in the arrest by grabbing and trying to pull the detective away. Both the teenager and Marreo were taken into custody without further incident. While searching the male, cops recovered a loaded handgun that had been reported stolen from Galloway.
A third person from the group, 19-year-old Kaleef Ardis, was stopped by another officer and was arrested after being found in possession of a replica handgun and marijuana.
Marrero and Ardis also had active warrants for their arrest.
The unnamed 17-year-old has been charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, obstruction of justice, resisting arrest, and receiving stolen property. Marrero is charged with obstruction of justice, resisting arrest, and contempt of court. Ardis has been charged with unlawful possession of an imitation firearm, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and contempt of court.
