Atlantic City, NJ Restaurant Is A Hidden Gem — Must Try [Photos]
I can't believe that we didn't try this great Atlantic City, New Jersey restaurant until last night. I have long heard about it and even walked right past this restaurant many times over the years.
Welcome to The Twenties Italian Bistro -- Claridge Hotel Atlantic City
Located on the 6th floor, Claridge Hotel Atlantic City -- the decor takes you back to Atlantic City in the 1920's-1930's, which I just love. It has dark wood, intricate marble inlays and other elaborate finishing touches, with an attention to detail that you just don't see anymore.
The views from this restaurant are incredible.
The restaurant provides:
- Art Deco/Jazz Age atmosphere.
- Darker, old fashioned furniture and fixtures.
- Vintage-style attention to detail.
- A historic bar.
- 1920's-inspired decor.
- Ocean and Boardwalk views.
- An intimate, old Atlantic City hotel atmosphere.
The Claridge Hotel Atlantic City
The Claridge opened in 1930, during the tail end of Atlantic City's legendary "Jazz Age." This fabulous structure was built during the Art Deco era.
When the Claridge was built nearly 100 years ago, it became known as the "Skyscraper by The Sea."
And, yes ... unofficial gambling was going on in Atlantic City at this time and Nucky Johnson was "The Boss" of Atlantic City.
The Name, "The Twenties" appears to be an homage to the legendary Atlantic City speakeasy of the same name, during the prohibition period (1920-1933) in America.

Robert was outstanding and did a great job explaining the menu and history of the restaurant.
Robert provided our 4 family members with excellence in service, throughout our excellent experience at The Twenties..
Robert presented our dinner bill in a "throw-back" Claridge Hotel & Casino (leather look) case and I signed the bill with Robert's own "James Carney -- Atlantic County Surrogate" pen. Robert has such a profound respect for Atlantic City's past and present. (See these two photos directly below).
The Executive Chef -- Craig Johnson
We met Craig Johnson, the Executive Chef -- Director of Food & Beverage Operations for the Claridge Hotel Atlantic City. What a fine gentleman.
We had the opportunity to thank him for the wonderful meals that our family had just enjoyed.
The overall presentation, quality ingredients and flavor was exceptional. The shrimp were so large (and delicious) that they should have had their own zip code.

You and yours will enjoy a dining experience at The Twenties -- we sure did. I dined with Margie Hurley, Kristin Hurley Baker and Noah Hurley Baker last night.
