Two from Bridgeton Indicted for 2013 Murder in Atlantic City, NJ
An Atlantic County Grand Jury has indicted two men from Bridgeton in connection to a fatal shooting in Atlantic City in 2013.
29-year-old Abdul Bailey and 27-year-old Austin Clark have been indicted on murder, conspiracy to commit murder, unlawful possession of a handgun, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose charges. Bailey was also indicted on a charge of certain Persons not to possess weapons, according to Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Cary Shill.
Authorities say on the afternoon of Saturday, May 4th, 2013, the Atlantic City Police Department received a 9-1-1 call about a shooting at 501 North Indiana Avenue. At the scene, cops located 21-year-old William Clegg of Atlantic City with multiple gunshot wounds. Clegg was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center-City Campus where he was pronounced dead.
An investigation determined, "Bailey and Clark lured Clegg outside the convenience store at 501 North Indiana Avenue. One individual waited for Clegg on the sidewalk; the other waited for him in the alleyway. As Clegg walked by, he was shot by the man waiting in the alley."
Bailey was apprehended in Williamsport, PA, on October 20, 2020, and Clark was already in custody.
The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
