Cops in Atlantic City say two men from Philadelphia were arrested after fighting and fleeing from officers over smoking marijuana on the Boardwalk Thursday afternoon.

According to police, around lunchtime Thursday, two officers on foot patrol on the Boardwalk saw 26-year-old Christian Jones and 28-year-old Eli Reynolds, both from Philadelphia, sitting on a bench smoking marijuana near North Carolina Avenue. As the officers spoke to the pair, cops say they became irate.

Police went on to say,

Reynolds stood up and attempted to walk away. After being told he was under arrest, Reynolds pulled away from Officer Fuentes and began to resist arrest. After a brief struggle, he was placed in custody. As the officers were arresting Reynolds, Jones fled. He was quickly apprehended by Officers Mailon Demby and Rick Lasco as he entered a nearby parking garage. Jones, who initially provided officers with a false name, was found to have a warrant for his arrest from Bucks County, PA. Both men were found in possession of a small amount of marijuana.

Jones was charged with fugitive of justice, possession of CDS, obstruction of justice, and hindering apprehension. He was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.

Reynolds was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS), obstruction of justice, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct; he was released on a summons with a future court date.
