Two Teens Charged With Shooting 9-year-old in Atlantic City
Two 17-year-olds have been charged in connection to a shooting of a 9-year-old girl in Atlantic City last month.
Atlantic City Police say back on the night of September 3rd, officers responded to the 500 block of Indiana Avenue for a ShotSpotter alert. When they arrived, they found that multiple bullets had been fired into an occupied home and a 9-year-old girl had been shot in the foot. She was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center-City Division for treatment.
An investigation conducted by ACPD detectives resulted in two teenage suspects being identified and charged. One was already in custody at Harborfields Detention Facility having been charged in a separate shooting incident. The other suspect was arrested this past weekend in the 1700 block of Arctic Avenue in Atlantic City. Cops say that suspect was found to be in possession of a small quantity of marijuana.
Both 17-year-olds, one from Atlantic City and the other from Vineland, were charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, and conspiracy. The suspect from Atlantic City was additionally charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance. Both were remanded to Harborfields Detention Facility.
