The Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey Police Department handled a call on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at 11:45 a.m. regarding a person who was “making suicidal threats involving a weapon to family members.”

Egg Harbor Township Police Officers managed an incident on Uibel Avenue, whereby they had contact with the subject's father.

The father advised that the subject was “intoxicated, inside the residence and was no longer responding to attempts to speak with him.”

The Egg Harbor Township Police department worked in collaboration with the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.

According to an Egg Harbor Township Police Department public release:

Responding officers quickly secured the area around the residence. Members of the negotiator team from the Egg Harbor Township Police Department as Atlantic County Prosecutors Office attempted to contact the subject via telephone, with negative results. The Prosecutors Office utilized a drone to closer to the residence and determined there was no movement inside the home. The negotiators were able to finally make contact with the subject after several hours and he exited the residence and complied with the directions of officers on scene.

The Egg Harbor Township Police Department has not released the name of the subject.

The Egg Harbor Township Police has revealed that the “subject was transported to AtlantiCare City Division by Emergency Medical Services to be evaluated and treated.“

During the police encounter, Uibel Avenue was closed to traffic between Tilton Road and Douglass Avenue for approximately 3 hours while police officers were working at the scene.
