--A Moderate Risk of dangerous rip current has been posted along the Jersey Shore for Tuesday, as Hurricane Gert continues to churn up the Atlantic Ocean. In these conditions it is extremely important to stay aware of changing surf conditions and to swim only on guarded beaches.

TODAY: E winds around 5 kt, becoming SE late this morning and afternoon. Seas 2 ft or less, then around 3 ft late this morning and afternoon. Mainly in SE swell with a dominant period of 9 seconds. Scattered showers this morning, then a chance of showers with a slight chance of tstms this afternoon.

TONIGHT: S winds 5 to 10 kt, becoming W after midnight. Seas 3 to 5 ft. Mainly in SE swell with a dominant period of 13 seconds.

WED: NW winds 5 to 10 kt, becoming S in the afternoon. Seas 4 to 6 ft, subsiding to 3 to 4 ft in the late morning and afternoon. Mainly in SE swell with a dominant period of 13 seconds.

WED NIGHT: SW winds 5 to 10 kt, becoming W late in the evening, then becoming N after midnight. Seas around 3 ft. Mainly in SE swell with a dominant period of 11 seconds.
