A 19-year-old man, who was already in custody on an unrelated charge, has been arrested in connection to the fatal shooting of one person and wounding another in Camden last month.

The Camden County Prosecutor's Office says Avonte Muse of Camden killed 33-year-old Akeem Jenkins and wounded an unidentified 32-year-old woman, both also from Camden.

It was on the night of Friday, October 27th, when Camden County Police were called to the 2800 block of Hull Road for a report of a person who had been shot.

Upon arrival, officers located two victims. Both were taken to Cooper University Hospital where Jenkins died from his injuries just minutes later. The woman was treated and released from the hospital.

Muse has been charged with first-degree murder and second-degree aggravated assault.

Muse was arrested by Camden County Police on an unrelated charge on Saturday, November 4th. He remains in custody at the Camden County Jail.
