Atlantic City, NJ, Man Pleads Guilty to Illegal Gun Charge
An Atlantic City man will likely spend the next few years behind bars for having a stolen gun with illegal ammunition.
On Wednesday, 20-year-old Rakiy Newsome pleaded guilty in Atlantic County Superior Court to a second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun without a permit charge in exchange for a three-year term in state prison.
On April 22nd, 2022, Atlantic City police arrested Newsome on an unrelated incident.
During a search, he stated he had a weapon and police found a Springfield Model XD-40 handgun.
The gun was discovered to be stolen out of Lexington, SC, and it had an illegal 16-round magazine loaded with illegal hollow-point ammunition.
Sentencing is scheduled for September 28th.
