The third tropical system of the 2015 hurricane season has formed off of the Mid Atlantic coastline, but it poses no threat to the East Coast.

As of lunchtime Monday, The National Hurricane Center was issuing information regarding Tropical Storm Claudette, which formed well offshore of the Mid Atlantic coastline. Claudette was located about 285 miles south-southeast of Nantucket, MA, with maximum sustained winds of 50 MPH.

According to AccuWeather Hurricane Expert Dan Kottlowski, "The system may continue to strengthen into Monday night but will weaken as it moves over colder waters by Tuesday."

The Hurricane Center says T.S. Claudette will continue moving northeastward while picking-up speed, which will place it near Nova Scotia around Tuesday and Newfoundland Tuesday night into Wednesday.
