One person is dead and another was crirically injured in a single-vehicle crash Wednesday night in Cumberland County.

The Vineland Police Department says the accident happened just before 8:45 in the area of South Orchard and West Walnut Roads.

A preliminary investigation determined 22-year-old Maria Vazquez of Vineland was driving a 2014 Dodge Dart southbound on South Orchard Road when, for an unknown reason, it ran off the roadway, struck several trees, and overturned.

Vazquez was ejected from the car while a front-seat passenger was entrapped.

Vazquez was taken to Vineland Inspira Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The passenger, 38-year-old Rubisel Lopez-Uribe of Vineland, was airlifted to Cooper University Hospital in Camden where he was later listed in critical condition.

At this time, police say no charges have been filed and the investigation is ongoing.
