1 Extracted, 2 Injured in Egg Harbor Twp., NJ, Crash
One person had to be extracted from a van and two were sent to a local hospital following a crash in Egg Harbor Township Tuesday morning.
The Egg Harbor Township Police Department says the accident happened around 7:45 at Washington Avenue and Fire Road.
According to officials, a 2014 Chrysler minivan being driven by 43-year-old April Taliaferro of Hamilton Township was headed westbound on Washington Avenue, approaching Fire Road, when a northbound-turning vehicle being driven by 21-year-old Anthony Ruiz of Blackwood crashed into the side of the van.
As a result of the collision, Taliaferro had to be extracted from her van by members of the the Farmington and Bargaintown Fire Departments.
Both Taliaferro and Ruiz were taken to local hospitals for treatment of minor injuries.
The intersection at Washington Avenue and Fire Road was closed for about 45 minutes while the crash was investigated and cleared.
Ruiz was issued a traffic summons for careless driving.
