13-year-old Arrested With Rifle, Marijuana in Atlantic City
A 13-year-old boy from Atlantic City is facing adult-like charges after cops recovered a rifle with hollow-point ammunition following a foot pursuit.
Cops in Atlantic City say the scene unfolded around 2:30 Tuesday morning as officers located a vehicle that had been reported stolen from Northfield in the 600 block of Absecon Boulevard.
As they waited for a tow truck, according to a press release, two men approached the stolen car, but upon seeing the cops, they began to walk away.
According to a press release, as the officers approached, the pair began to run. Officers chased one male, who is 13 years old, who dropped a book bag while running. The boy was eventually arrested without incident. Officers located the book bag and found a rifle with hollow-point ammunition inside. The juvenile was also found in possession of marijuana.
The second male was not located.
The 13-year-old has been charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of hollow-point ammunition, obstruction of justice, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance. He was remanded to Harborfields Detention Facility.
