
2 with warrants, 1 with a gun, arrested in ride-share vehicle in Atlantic City, NJ
Two men are facing charges after police say one of them was found with a gun inside a ride-share vehicle in Atlantic City last week.
Last Friday, June 28th, the Atlantic City Police Department said one of their detectives received information about a man armed with a handgun walking in the area of the 2800 block of Pacific Avenue, near The Tropicana.
Authorities located that man, 40-year-old Matthew Murphy of Egg Harbor Township, walking along Atlantic Avenue with 47-year-old Nathaniel Rodgers of Atlantic City.
Police say while awaiting backup, Murphy and Rodgers got into a ride-share vehicle, which they stopped.
Police said,
While speaking with the passengers, a handgun was observed inside the vehicle and both men were found to have active warrants for their arrest. Murphy was found in possession of seven grams of methamphetamine and additional ammunition.
Murphy was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of CDS, and certain person not to possess a weapon. He is currently being treated at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center for a medical condition not related to his arrest.
Rodgers was charged with contempt and remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
