A.C. Cops: Man Arrested After Robbing Woman, Assaulting Officer
Police in Atlantic City say a man from the city is facing a list of charges after he allegedly robbed a woman and then assaulted an officer.
Cops say the scene unfolded just before 4:00 Saturday afternoon in the 2300 block of the Boardwalk when 50-year-old Eric Williams approached a woman, put her in a headlock, threw her to the ground, then stole her phone.
Officers were able to locate Williams in the 2100 block of the Boardwalk where he began to scream at them. After a one block chase, Williams was apprehended after he ran into a group of people. While being arrested, Williams reportedly punched an ACPD officer in the face.
The victim’s phone was located in Williams’ pocket during a search. The injured officer was taken to ARMC-City for treatment.
Williams is facing robbery, simple assault, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, obstruction of justice, and disorderly conduct charges; he was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
