Cops in Atlantic City say a man with a warrant and drugs was arrested after providing false information and running from an officer last Saturday.

Authorities say the scene unfolded around 12:30 early Saturday morning when an officer was patrolling Pacific Avenue. While stopped at a traffic light, he observed a vehicle behind him with no headlights on. The driver, who was in the other lane, stopped behind the officer even though the light was green.

Once he passed the cop, the driver was pulled over. According to police, the driver, later identified as 26-year-old Iree Jones of Atlantic City, did not have a drivers license and provided false personal information. Using the alias information provided, Jones was found to have an active warrant for his arrest. Jones immediately fled when he was about to be arrested, but the officer was able to quickly apprehend him and take him into custody. While being searched, Jones was found in possession of 60 bags of heroin.

Jones was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS), possession with intent to distribute CDS, hindering apprehension, resisting arrest, obstruction of justice, contempt of court, and motor vehicle summons. He was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
