The weather was far from perfect.

But, it may have been a near perfect 4th of July Independence Day extended holiday weekend in the ways that count the most.

After more than one year of lockdowns and other restrictions, The American People were able to recreate again in an unbridled fashion.

Patriotic fireworks were displayed at Resorts Casino Hotel, Borgata, Tropicana and elsewhere … for enthusiastic (guest) Americans to revel in.

With the exception of some prominent people (disgraceful elected officials, sports and entertainment figures) and liberal news outlets displaying very unpatriotic conduct … it was a magical 4th of July holiday weekend.

In Atlantic City, we turned to a great friend and respected area leader, Mark Giannantonio, President & Chief Executive Officer of Resorts Casino Hotel for his assessment:

“People come to Atlantic City to escape the challenges of everyday life. For a few hours, a day or a week people have been coming to Resorts for over 43 years. This July 4th, long weekend was a bit different. It seemed as though our visitors had a little more swagger in their step than usual. People were ready to celebrate our great nations 245th birthday in style and with great enthusiasm. It was a wonderful weekend! said Giannantonio.

Our neighboring casino jurisdiction in Connecticut also had a great holiday weekend.

Our dear friend and Connecticut “go to” guru, Tom Cantone, President of Sports & Entertainment for Mohegan Gaming Entertainment (MGE Corporate) … offered his always insightful observations as follows:

“The weather wasn't perfect but that Declaration those brave 56 young men created and had the courage to sign was. Little did they know it would be the blue print that changed the world. So when we are eating over 150 million hot dogs on the 4th, remember one thing-
You had the Independence to do so because of the wisdom of our Founding Fathers. The Americans have always been the "Good Guys". Still are....” said Cantone.

NOTE: We received permission to publish these fabulous photos taken by the talented Mark Callazzo.

They say that a picture can paint a thousand words. That’s certainly true here. The Callazzo photos, taken from the vantage point of Tennessee Avenue, while trained on Resorts Casino Hotel are truly breathtaking.

Here are two of my favorites:

Our region celebrated America’s Independence Day in great fashion.

Summer, 2021 is already flying.

Before you blink, again … it’s going to be the Labor Day holiday weekend.

Together, let’s enjoy it and may it be profitable for the many who have suffered so much over the past 1 1/2 years.
