Cops say a wanted fugitive from New York, who was armed, was arrested after fleeing the scene of a domestic dispute in Atlantic City Wednesday morning.

According to Atlantic City police, officers responded to the Rodeway Inn in the 3200 block of Pacific Avenue around lunchtime Wednesday in reference to a domestic dispute. The 911 caller reported that the suspect, later identified as 35-year-old Ramel Harris of New York, was armed with a gun and knife.

Police say as they were responding,

Surveillance Center personnel located Harris fleeing the area. He was followed by surveillance cameras as he fled on to the Boardwalk. Detectives Darrin Lorady and Nicholas Berardis confronted Harris in the beach block of Morris Avenue. They were able to arrest him after a brief struggle.

Harris, who initially provided officers with a fake name, was found in possession of a knife. Harris also had an active warrant for his arrest for robbery from New York City. Officers searched the path that Harris ran and did not locate a handgun.

Harris was charged with fugitive from justice, unlawful possession of a weapon, obstruction of justice, and resisting arrest. He was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
