Torres Mayfield is living proof that one concerned citizen can make a positive difference.

Mayfield is also an Atlantic City, New Jersey Board of Education member.

He recently noticed that the United States Flag was torn and tattered near the Pleasantville Post Office.

A torn flag is disrespect to our country and should always be addressed at the earliest possible moment.

Mayfield took Action and posted on his social media Facebook page to alert the public and ask for help.

We’re here to help.

This is how Mayfield proactively and publicly addressed the issue:

“Posting this of a United States Flag which is located by The Pleasantville Post Office 752 Black Horse Pike. I can go on and make comments about the condition of this Flag. It's a representation of who we are as Americans Home of the Brave and Free. Many Lives have been lost defending it.. With all due respect Let's Get it replaced. I volunteer my time to replace it .Stand Up. Photo courtesy of Wilfredo Dehoyos. THIS WE WILL DEFEND... wrote Mayfield.

Mayfield followed-up a few days later with the following:

UPDATE on the Flag at the Pleasantville Post Office. I recently visited the Post Office to inquire about the replacement of the Flag after seeing a post on Facebook. The staff members I spoke with acknowledged receiving complaints, but I was the only individual who personally inquired further. A staff member courteously informed me that they possess a replacement Flag and POW Flag, but are awaiting a work order and repair of the broken holder. I offered to provide four small flags to display around the Flag Pole temporarily, pending the replacement of the Flag, and was granted permission to do so. I will continue to monitor the situation until the Flag is replaced. (The Post Master for that Office can be contacted at Patricia.A.Mason@usps.com), wrote Mayfield.

Mayfield took immediate action himself and we will stay on top of the bureaucracy that always seems to take way too long to take basic action.
