Federal Gov’t. Tells Atlantic City Housing Head: Leave & Don’t Come Back

The United States Department of Housing and Urban Development is in Atlantic City, New Jersey … whereby they have formally taken over the operations of the Atlantic City Housing Authority.

Doherty confirmed Tony’s that Geoffrey Dorsey, the ousted Board Chairman of the Atlantic City Housing Authority has been banned from all Atlantic City Housing Authority properties.

Dorsey was banned by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Doherty Called The Former Board, ”Corrupt”

“A corrupt board cannot solve the problems,” said Doherty. Doherty believes that there will be criminal prosecutions.

Priorities

Doherty told us that the priority will be to make sure that residence have heat and hot water this winter. Some public housing residence in Atlantic City have been without heat and hot water for years.

Praise

Doherty praised Inited States Congressman Jeff Van Drew, who led the charge to have the federal government takeover the Atlantic City Housing Authority.

Doherty also praised Atlantic City activist Steve Young and Atlantic City Council Members, George Tibbitt and LaToya Dunston for their long-time assistance for the affected residents.

Will There Be a Criminal Investigation?

Doherty believes that the federal government will investigate if crimes have been committed.

Doherty thinks that the money that was paid to various consultants and other no bid contracts … in what Doherty calls “churning work,“ in order to keep paying millions of dollars to chosen recipients was a practice followed by the Atlantic City Housing Authority, according to Doherty.

Doherty Litigation

Doherty was terminated two years ago as Executive. He previously filed litigation. It is his desire to hold individuals responsible and accountable for what they did.

Doherty advised that his legal team has already deposed former housing authority board member, Stephanie Marshall, who like Dorsey is also a member of city Council.

Dougherty has called the Atlantic City Housing Authority, the “largest slumlord in all of Atlantic City.”
