Reckless ATV Rider Arrested in Atlantic City
The Atlantic City Police Department says on July 3rd, two of their officers attempted to pull over an ATV that was being driven recklessly in the area of North Carolina and Adriatic Avenues. The driver of the ATV refused to pull over and fled from the police at a high rate of speed, according to officials.
After a brief investigation, officers were able to identify the driver of the ATV 32-year-old Abdussala Gray of Atlantic City. A warrant was issued, charging him with eluding the police.
On July 11th, other ACPD officers saw Gray at Tennessee and Atlantic Avenues and placed him in custody.
Gray was processed on his warrant and transported to the Atlantic County Justice Facility. He was also issued several motor vehicle summonses.
Second ATV Arrest Over Holiday Weekend
This was the second incident involving ATVs and dirt bikes in Atlantic City over the long 4th of July weekend.
On the night of July 5th, ACPD Chief James Sarkos and Deputy Chiefs Andrew Leonard and Christian Garofalo were on patrol and they saw a group of ATV and dirt bike riders illegally driving down Pacific Avenue in an erratic manner. The officers, in an unmarked vehicle, followed the group to Albany and Winchester Avenues where one rider, 24-year-old Rashaun Blumfield of Mays Landing, stopped at a gas station. As Sarkos attempted to speak with Blumfield, he allegedly tried to drive away but was eventually arrested.
In that case, Blumfield was charged with eluding, resisting arrest, and obstruction of justice. He was released on a summons.
