Lifeguards must always be prepared to jump in the water to make rescues, even after hours and especially during the busy summer season.

This past Sunday was no exception as eight lifeguards plunged into the water to rescue a man who jumped into the ocean off Steel Pier in Atlantic City, according to The Press of Atlantic City.

According to the report, two men, who were intoxicated, jumped into the water off the pier. Only one man needed to be rescued by guards.

Luckily for the man, who floated about 100 yards off shore, lifeguards were still on duty working on the late shift due to the summer season.
