An Atlantic City man is facing charges after an altercation involving a defaced AK-47-style BB gun in the city Sunday morning.

Atlantic City Police say the scene unfolded just before 8AM Sunday when officers responded to the 1100 block of Arctic Avenue for a report of a man with a rifle.

According to a press release, before officers arrived, the suspect, later identified as 48-year-old Wesley Robinson of Atlantic City, fled into a residence in the same block; officers established a perimeter around that home.

Officers interviewed several witnesses on scene and learned Robinson became involved in an altercation with people in front of a convenience store. Those people allegedly threw things at Robinson who returned to his house and emerged with the gun.

Robinson eventually surrendered to officers and was arrested without incident. Cops recovered an air-soft AK-47-style BB gun with the orange tip removed along with two air-rifles inside the home.

Robinson was charged with unlawful possession of a defaced weapon and contempt of court. He was released on a summons with a future court date.
