
Atlantic City Man Who Threatened Mother With Gun Pleads Guilty

Mays Landing, N.J. — An Atlantic City man who threatened to shoot his mother during a mental health crisis has pleaded guilty to drug distribution and weapons charges after police searched his home and found drugs and a loaded handgun.
On Monday, 32-year-old Trevon Drinks entered his plea to second-degree possession with intent to distribute cocaine, second-degree possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, and second-degree certain persons not to possess weapons.
Under the terms of his guilty plea, Drinks is expected to be sentenced to 10 years in New Jersey State Prison, including five years of parole ineligibility.
Mental Health Call Leads to Drug and Gun Discovery
According to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office, on June 20th of last year, Atlantic City Police responded to 305 N. North Carolina Avenue for a report of a man in mental health crisis who was threatening to shoot his mother with a gun.
Officers identified the man as Drinks, and they also learned he had threatened his sister, who told police she had seen him with a firearm before.

An emergency search warrant was approved for the home. Inside, authorities found more than 21 grams of methamphetamine, more than 28 grams of cocaine, more than 29 grams of fentanyl, and a loaded 9mm Sig Sauer P320 handgun containing ten rounds of ammunition and a high-capacity magazine.
Drinks has prior drug distribution convictions, making him legally prohibited from possessing firearms.
Sentencing is scheduled for October 27th. He remains held at the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
