
Atlantic City, NJ, Man Guilty – Drugs & Firearms Offenses
Will Reynolds and the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office have delivered another guilty verdict regarding narcotics and firearms.
Introducing Darryl Murphy
Darryl Murphy, 45 years old, from Atlantic City, New Jersey has pled guilty to:
- first-degree possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute.
- first-degree maintaining a CDS production facility.
- second-degree certain persons not to possess weapons.
The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office has confirmed that:
Under the terms of his plea agreement, Murphy is expected to be sentenced to an aggregate term of 10 years in New Jersey State Prison with five years of parole ineligibility, said the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.
Background Of The Case
It all started on August 20, 2024, when members of the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) task force executed a search warrant for a motel room located in Absecon.
They were able to take Murphy into custody. He was in possession of the motel room keys. A search warrant was executed, whereby police officers located:
- one-half ounce of cocaine.
- baking soda used to used to cook crack cocaine.
- a large glass measuring cup.
- a knife with cocaine residue on it.
- a scale.
- multiple sized empty baggies.
”The cocaine and paraphernalia were near a microwave, which are commonly used to cook crack cocaine,”said the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.
Handgun Was Located In Atlantic City
The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office has confirmed that ”HIDTA and members of the Atlantic City Police Department executed a search warrant in Atlantic City which led to the recovery of a 9mm handgun loaded with an extended magazine of ammunition,” said the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.
Murphy admitted the handgun belonged to him and that he hid it in the Atlantic City residence.
Murphy was being held at the Atlantic County Justice Facility. He was released after his plea on a detainer and place in to federal custody, because he has violated conditions of his supervised release.
