Atlantic City, New Jersey Mayor Marty Small and his wife, La’Quetta Small will be formally arraigned today for various child abuse charges in an Atlantic County courtroom.

La’Quetta Small is the current superintendent of the Atlantic City public school system.

La’Quetta Small has continued to have pupil contact and still works daily as superintendent.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office has confirmed the following about Marty and La’Quetta Small.

On Tuesday, September 17, 2024, Marty Small, Sr., 50, and his wife, La'Quetta Small, 47, of Atlantic City, NJ were both indicted for second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Marty Small, Sr. was also indicted for third-degree Terroristic Threats, and third-degree Aggravated Assault, said the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.

Marty and La’Quetta Small will undoubtedly plead not guilty to all charges.

We broke the news last night that a 4th individual, Toria Young has been directly, criminally charged by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.

Young is the secretary to Atlantic City High School Principal Constance Days-Chapman.

Days-Chapman was indicted a few weeks ago by an Atlantic County Grand Jury on the following serious charges:

  • second-degree Official
    Misconduct.
  • one count of second-degree Pattern of Official Misconduct.
  • one count of second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
  • one count of third-degree Hindering
    Apprehension of Another.

It is apparent that the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office has widened its net in this Small child abuse case.

Four people are now criminally charged.
