Yes, Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small is facing multiple serious criminal charges.

You wouldn’t know it by the way Marty Small compartmentalizes his mounting legal problems.

He’s been here two previous times. Marty Small has an undefeated 2-0 record versus the state of New Jersey in criminal trials.

MARTY & LA’QUETTA CRIMINAL TRIAL IS SET

Both Marty and La’Quetta Small are set to go back into a criminal courtroom trial on July 14, 2025 before His Honor, New Jersey Superior Court Judge Bernard DeLury.

ELECTION BALLOT COMES FIRST FOR SMALL

While under criminal indictment, Marty Small is facing Bob McDevitt in the June 10, 2025 Democratic Primary Election for Mayor of Atlantic City.

Democrats out number Republicans by a more than 10-1 margin in Atlantic City … typically, the Democratic Primary is the equivalent of the General Election.

CRIMINAL CHARGES ARE SERIOUS IN NATURE

The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office describes the criminal charges against Marty and La’Quetta Small. The are serious and disturbing as follows:

On Tuesday, September 17, 2024, Marty Small, Sr., 50, and his wife, La Quetta Small, 47, of Atlantic City, NJ were both indicted for second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Marty Small, Sr. was also indicted for third-degree Terroristic Threats, and third-degree Aggravated Assault. It is alleged that during the months of December 2023 and January 2024, the defendants physically and emotionally abused their 15/16-year-old-daughter on multiple occasions. During one incident, on January 13, 2024, Marty Small, Sr. is alleged to have hit his daughter multiple times in the head with a broom causing her to lose consciousness, said the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.

DESPERATE CRIMINAL DEFENSE TACTICS

At their recent appearance before Judge DeLury, Marty and La’Quetta Small placed the entire blame on their daughter’s boyfriend.

That’s bad form and demonstrates how significant the evidence against them really is. This was their decided legal strategy to try and get Judge DeLury to dismiss all of their criminal charges.

DeLury has reserved his decision on the motion to dismiss to a later date … however, it is very unlikely that he will dismiss the criminal charges against Marty and La’Quetta Small.

SMALL PRESENTS TAX DECREASE TO VOTERS

Yesterday, Marty Small introduced a $ 258.3 million budget, which will feature a 3.4-cent tax decrease.

The budget will include an additional $ 21.6 million in grants awards.

Last year, Small delivered a 10.2-cent tax decrease.

The City of Atlantic City is also making headway regarding its serious debt problem … decreasing from more than $ 550 million in 2019 to approximately $ 328 million now.

ROADS ARE FINALLY GOING TO BE REPAVED

Over the past 6 years, Small has allowed many roads in Atlantic City to be left in very bad repair.

Just in time for the June 10, 2025 elections, roads (including Atlantic Avenue) will finally be repaved.

It’s been 6 years of bad local government … however, this repaving measure is good politics, now.

IT’S LIKE A ‘SMALL’ MAGIC TRICK

Marty Small is trying to thread the political needle. He wants voters to ignore that he is running for re-election while under criminal indictment.

Instead, Small wants you to vote for your property tax decrease and newly surfaced roadways.

Will this magic trick actually work?
