Atlantic City, NJ, Mayor & Wife - Lives Were Violently Threatened

I have responsibly waited until a recent violent threat had resolved before reporting about it.

I have confirmed that on the evening of Wednesday, March 18, 2025, Atlantic City, New Jersey Mayor Marty Small received an electronic threat … a very violent threat, that targeted the lives of both Mayor Small and his wife, (La’Quetta Small).

The threat was deemed credible and the Atlantic City Police Department stationed a patrol car and a police officer (around the clock) nearby The Smalls’ Atlantic City home.

The police officer and police car was present at The Mayor’s residence from last Wednesday, through (early) this past Monday, March 25, 2025.

Providing Marty and La’Quetta Small and Family with additional police protection was the absolute right thing to do … until the threat had subsided.

There is no determination at this time why The Small’s were the recipient of life threatening violence in this manner.

There is the ongoing (emotionally charged) child abuse criminal case and Marty Small recently testified in a murder trial in Atlantic County Superior Court.

Regarding the murder trial, in fairness to Marty Small, a very good friend of his was shot and murdered right near his home … so, of course Marty Small would be called as a witness in this case … as he had literally just entered his home seconds before the fatal gunshots rang out.

I rise in support of Mayor Small and his Family, as there is no place in our society for violent threats such as this.

We have sent an email to the Atlantic City Police public information officer to see if the Atlantic City Police Department or Mayor Small are willing to make a public statement about the violent threat that was received by Marty Small.

We will include any comment here immediately upon receipt.

ADDENDUM: We have received a communication from Atlantic City Police Captain Kevin Fair, who is the public information officer for the Atlantic City Police Department who said:

On March 19, 2025, the Atlantic City Police Department's Criminal Investigations Section initiated an investigation into a complaint received from Mayor Marty Small Sr. and Dr. LaQuetta Small. The Smalls received several threatening and harassing phone calls. This is an active investigation and there is no further information to provide at this time, said Captain Fair.
