Atlantic City Man Sentenced in Joyriding, Fentanyl Cases
Atlantic City, N.J. — A man from the World's Play Ground is headed to prison on joyriding and drug-related charges.
After pleading guilty to charges back in April, last Thursday, 37-year-old Giovannie Belle, also known as Decourcey Belle, was sentenced to four years in state prison for fourth-degree joyriding and two counts of third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
Belle was also sentenced for violating his probation, with all sentences running concurrently.
Stolen Vehicle Investigation Led to Arrest
According to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office, on August 10th, 2025, Galloway Township Police Department officers were dispatched to the Country View Inn and Suites in reference to a stolen vehicle. There, officials spoke with the victim, who said he let an unknown man borrow his vehicle to go to the store, but the man never returned. Shortly after, police located that vehicle near the motel with Belle standing outside of it, and he was taken into custody.

Fentanyl Found After Atlantic City Foot Chase
Later that month, New Jersey Transit Police Department officers saw Belle on a bicycle in the area of the Atlantic City Bus Terminal. They attempted to stop him for questioning regarding an unrelated investigation. He fled from police, but was apprehended in the area of The Boards AC motel following a foot pursuit. He was found in possession of fentanyl.
Fentanyl Found Again After Shoplifting Call
Then, on December 10th, officers with the Atlantic City Police Department were dispatched to the Circle K store for a shoplifting call. Police reviewed surveillance footage and obtained a description of the suspect, later identified as Belle. Police located him a short distance from the store; he was found in possession of fentanyl.
