Mays Landing, N.J. — An Atlantic City man has pleaded guilty to his role in a shootout near Pennsylvania and Adriatic Avenues in the World's Play Ground earlier this year.

24-year-old Kasean Griffin entered his plea Monday.

Under a plea agreement, he faces a recommended six-year sentence in New Jersey State Prison for second-degree aggravated assault, subject to the No Early Release Act, which requires him to serve 85% of that sentence before becoming eligible for parole. He also faces a five-year prison term for second-degree possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, with a 42-month period of parole ineligibility.

Surveillance footage captured what investigators described as a shootout: Griffin firing at a passing vehicle while occupants of that vehicle fired back at him. No one is believed to have been struck, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.

Officers tracked Griffin to a nearby residence following the shooting. A search turned up two firearms loaded with hollow-point and ball-point ammunition.

Sentencing is scheduled for October.
