The month of April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. There has been a formal focus about this important issue since President Ronald Reagan was in office.

Atlantic County Commissioner June Byrnes made a presentation about child abuse prevention at the Board of Commissioners most recent regular meeting last week.

While no mention was made about them directly; it was all but implied that the current disturbing child abuse case involving alleged perpetrators Marty Small, La’Quetta Small and Constance Days-Chapman … was clearly a top of mind reality.

This is unprecedented, As it involves the sitting Mayor of Atlantic City, sitting superintendent of the Atlantic City public schools, and the sitting and (now suspended) Principal of Atlantic City High School.

A second Atlantic County Grand Jury also indicted Marty Small of witness tampering … alleging that he tried to get a witness to change their previous testimony.

All 3 currently stand indicted on a myriad of serious child abuse charges.

The County of Atlantic said the following about child abuse prevention:

The Atlantic County Youth Services Commission is partnering with organizations throughout Atlantic County to raise awareness of child abuse and promote prevention with the planting of pinwheel gardens at multiple locations during April, Child Abuse Prevention Month. The blue and white pinwheels symbolize childhood innocence and the carefree experiences that should define childhood, said Curtis Still, Youth Services Commission Administrator.

Not lost on anyone are two things here:

1. It’s Atlantic County Child Abuse Awareness Month.

2. Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small, La’Quetta Small and Constance Days-Chapman are all facing child abuse charges.

NOTE: The vote taken by the Atlantic County Board of Commissioners was unanimous, including Ernest Coursey, who works for Marty Small … and, Coursey’s award-winning wife is the Atlantic County Superintendent of Public Schools.

BONUS: Isabella’s Italian Pizza Kitchen is about to open in Atlantic City in the very near future. Here (below) are a few exclusive photos that have been shared with us by Sal Spena, owner operator.
