Atlantic County Republican Chairman Keith Davis has officially resigned his position effective, Friday, March 25, 2022.

As such, there will be a special mini-convention held to elect a new Chairman.

We can now confirm that the election for a new Chairman will be held on Monday, March 28, 2022, at 5:30 p.m. at the Smithville Inn, 1 New York Road, Galloway Township, New Jersey.

At the gathering, Atlantic County Committee members
will vote to elect a new Chairman, who will serve until the official June 14, 2022, Atlantic County reorganization meeting.

This also allows for a special convention to take place at the same time for a nominee for Atlantic County Commissioner for District 1.

Because of the recent redistricting process, the composition of the new first district is comprised of:

  • Atlantic City.
  • West Atlantic City (Egg Harbor Township).
  • Ventnor.
  • Margate.
  • Longport.

The new Atlantic County Republican Party Chairman is expected to be former Galloway Township, Mayor Don Purdy.

Purdy told us that outgoing Atlantic County Republican “Chairman Keith Davis has demonstrated the perfect level of cooperation during this transition period,” said Purdy.

”Keith has been a great working partner and I both thank and congratulate him on his 16 highly successful years as our Chairman.”

Davis is leaving on his own terms to pursue a broader role that will allow him to directly assist and help elect Republicans throughout South Jersey.

New Jersey Senator Vince Polistina has also been very complimentary about Davis.

“I want to thank Keith Davis for his many years of leadership of the Atlantic County Republican Committee,” said Polistina.

“His hard work and dedication to the organization has put us in a position we haven’t seen in over 2 decades and we will strive to continue his legacy of support for Republican candidates in Atlantic County,” said Polistina.
