A collaboration between the New Jersey State Police and the Atlantic County Prosecutors Office has led to the arrest of an Egg Harbor City, New Jersey man that they maintain was involved in a Port Republic fatal accident.

The above announcement was made by Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Cary Shill.

Shill said, “ACPO Crash Investigations Unit detectives assisted the New Jersey State Police with the arrest of Steven Hanlin for Vehicular Homicide in connection to a motor vehicle crash that occurred on October 3, 2020, on Clarks Landing Road in Port Republic.”

The ACPO has concluded that Hanlin failed to maintain his lane of travel and entered into the oncoming lane where he struck a motorcycle head-on, operated by Anthony Migliaccio of Somers Point. Migliaccio, 63, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Hanlin will remain Atlantic County Justice Facility, pending a detention hearing.

The ACPO & NJSP methodically worked together for more than 13 months, before bringing the vehicular homicide charges against Hanlin,

Shill has advised that Atlantic County Assistant Prosecutor Kathleen Robinson will represent the state in this case.

NOTE: The Atlantic County Prosecutors Office always rightly states at the time of announcing the filing of criminal charges that … “These charges are merely an accusation and not proof of guilt. In all criminal cases, a charged defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.”
