Bader Field in Atlantic City, New Jersey closed as an airport in 2006, after almost a century of aviation use. Bader Field is where the term airport was created in 1920.

The term airport was created in Atlantic City on what appears to be May 10, 1920. Bader Field was named after former Atlantic City Mayor Edward Bader as an “airport" because it was accessible by air and water. The headlines at the time read,

"Atlantic City, the new AirPort."

Penn National Gaming offered a whopping $ 900,000,000 to the City of Atlantic City in exchange for ownership of Bader Field.

Penn Gaming wanted to develop a hotel-casino on part of the Bader Field site and sell other parcels to interested developers.

Then Atlantic City Mayor Jim Whelan and the state of New Jersey absolutely blew it. The sale was not made. It was a colossal mistake that cost the residents of Atlantic City a life-changing scenario.

On March 23, 2023, Mayor Small, Randolph and DEEM Enterprises (Dan Gallagher) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop Bader Field.

It served notice that Atlantic City is open for business.

A resolution authorizing the execution of the MOU was achieved, as DEEM Enterprises submitted a $ 2.7 billion proposal for the Bader Field site, which will include housing, retail and a motor course for residential use.

DEEM Enterprises has now raise between $ 4-5 Billion for Atlantic City Redevelopment.

That any developer is going to park billions of dollars on an indefinite basis.

It’s time to act on Bader Field, so as not to repeat the same mistake that was made with Penn National Gaming nearly 20 years.

Atlantic City has been given a second chance — It might not be given a 3rd chance if this opportunity fails.
