Independent Group Says New Jersey Could lose A Million Jobs
An Independent group has revealed that the state of New Jersey may lose 1 million jobs because of a new Governor Mikie Sherrill rule that took effect yesterday.
New Jersey’s Shrinking Job Market

Americans for Prosperity said yesterday that the state of New Jersey lost 21,900 jobs in July and 1,700 more in August, according to the Department of Labor & Workforce Development's August report.
Americans For Prosperity Northeast Coalitions Director John Goodnight Said …

It's disappointing to see the independent contractor rule go into effect today despite bipartisan efforts calling on Governor Sherrill to delay, estimated to put more than 1 million jobs at risk in a state that can't afford to lose more. The people who will feel this first are not large corporations. They are parents who build work around the school day, caregivers, retirees, and freelancers. Adding uncertainty to the way thousands of New Jerseyans earn a living is the wrong call, especially when the state has lost over 20,000 jobs since July, said Goodnight.

Goodnight also said that, “Garden State workers and families need more opportunity, not more obstacles to make a living. AFP urges Governor Sherrill to push this rule back and work with the Legislature to protect independent workers."
