New Life-saving Business Replacing Former Egg Harbor Township Save A Lot Market

A new business is taking over space formerly occupied by a discount supermarket on the Black Horse Pike in Egg Harbor Township and they deal with blood -- or, more specifically, plasma.

Taking over the old Save A Lot store in the Cardiff Plaza Shopping Center is Biolife Plasma Services.

Before we dive into what this company does, let's first talk about plasma. It's defined as, "...the largest part of your blood. ... The main role of plasma is to take nutrients, hormones, and proteins to the parts of the body that need it. Cells also put their waste products into the plasma. The plasma then helps remove this waste from the body. Blood plasma also carries all parts of the blood through your circulatory system."

With that in mind, according to their website, Biolife Plasma Services collects, "...high quality plasma that is processed into life-saving plasma-based therapies," such as for hemophilia, immune deficiency, blood volume replacement, and many others.

This will be Biolife's second location in New Jersey; their only other location is in Deptford, not too far from Deptford Mall. Across the nation, they have offices in nearly three dozen states.

At the moment, the banners on their future storefront say they are hiring for a number of positions, which you can browse on their site.

No official opening date for their EHT location has been announced yet.
