A prominent storefront in Mays Landing that became vacant not too long ago will soon be the home of an exciting new business.

Our travels today take us to the Consumer Square shopping center on Wrangleboro Road, where work is now underway on a new Boot Barn store.

Boot Barn is moving into the old Party City location, right in front of Target.

From Balloons to Boots

It was right before Christmas 2024 when news broke about Party City's financial problems, which were too much for them to overcome, and the entire chain shut down.

And since that shopping center has had absolutely no problems finding new tenants lately -- Bob's Discount Furniture just moved there from across the street, a new Top Pot Korean BBQ restaurant just opened, and Gap is getting ready to open a store -- it should come as no surprise that Boot Barn jumped at the opportunity to open its first location there at the Jersey Shore.

What Boot Barn Sells

For those not familiar with Boot Barn, the chain was founded in California in 1978, and they sell western wear, cowboy boots, workwear, home decor, and other outdoor-type merchandise. At last check, they have about 500 stores across the country, with 11 in the Garden State.

We stopped by last week, and from what we could see, the entire interior had been gutted, and crews were hard at work.

As for when Boot Barn will open in Mays Landing, as soon as we hear, we'll update this story.
