Burlington County Man Pleads Guilty in Atlantic City Gun Case
Atlantic City, N.J. — A Burlington County man has pleaded guilty to carrying a handgun without a permit after police say he was spotted with a firearm at Tanger Outlets in Atlantic City.
36-year-old Brandon Jackson of Burlington Township entered his plea on Wednesday to second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm without a permit, as well as fourth-degree obstructing the administration of law.
His agreement calls for a recommended eight-year state prison sentence with a mandatory four-year period of parole ineligibility.
According to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office, on April 20, 2023, Atlantic City police received a tip about a suspicious person wearing a black satchel across his chest who was believed to be carrying a handgun at Tanger Outlets.
Officers stopped and detained Jackson, who matched the description. A search turned up a .45-caliber Hi-Point handgun inside the satchel, to which he did not have a valid permit to carry.
Sentencing is scheduled for August 5th.
