Cape May County COVID-19 Death Toll Reaches Ten
The Cape May County Health Department now reports 10 confirmed deaths from COVID-19 including two more Victoria Manor residents in Lower Township as of Wednesday morning.
Officials say the nursing home residents who died were a 73-year-old woman and a 93-year-old man.
The Cape May County Herald reports eight of the ten COVID-related deaths in Cape May County have come from Victoria Manor.
County health officials also report the total number of positive COVID-19 cases has reached 179.
In a press release, Cape May County Health Officer Kevin Thomas said, "This is an extremely unfortunate situation and certainly our sympathies are with the deceased, family, and friends. We will continue to work with the nursing home and work on preventing further cases and deaths.”
Lower Township, where Victoria Manor is located, leads the county with 56 active positive cases and eight deaths. Middle Township is next with 35 cases and one death. All other towns and townships in Cape May County report a dozen or less active positive cases. Stone Harbor and Cape May continue to report zero cases; Dennis Township reported one death.
