Citizens are Striking Back Against Atlantic City, NJ Wind Project
Atlantic City, New Jersey Mayor Marty Small has paved the way for the implementation of offshore wind to be developed off of the coast of The World’s Playground.
Small enthusiastically supports the offshore wind project, despite substantial opposition from the citizens of Atlantic City.
The bare minimum 5 members of the Atlantic City Council have supported Small and the offshore wind project at every turn.
Atlantic City Councilman George Tibbitt has relentlessly opposed the implementation of the offshore wind project in (power lines and other equipment) and off of the coast of Atlantic City.
Tibbitt is very concerned about the burying of high power electrical lines throughout stable neighborhoods of Atlantic City.
Tibbitt has articulated his opposition from both a potential health standpoint, as well as a disruption to business and the community for an extended period of time.
In Southern New Jersey, only the government’s of Atlantic City and Longport have been in favor of the offshore wind project.
It appears to be universally unpopular, except for those with the most political power … the state of New Jersey and the federal government.
A group of citizens have decided to strike back and they are presently circulating a petition (that if successful) will repeal Ordinance # 74 of 2024, which would green light the offshore wind project.
We have obtained a copy of the citizen’s petition, which reads:
Petition to Protest Against the Passage of Atlantic City Ordinance of 2024:
AN ORDINANCE GRANTING CERTAIN CONSENTS, PERMISSIONS, AND EASEMENTS TO ATLANTIC SHORES OFFSHORE WIND PROJECT 1, LLC IN SUPPORT OF A QUALIFIED OFFSHORE WIND PROJECT
(A copy of the text of the ordinance is set forth on the back page of this petition.)
TO THE CLERK AND GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC CITY:
We the undersigned qualified voters of the City of Atlantic City protest against the passage of the above described ordinance by the City Council of said city, and we demand that said ordinance be suspended from taking effect until proceedings are had pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:69A: -185 et. seq.

During an on-air “Hurley in the Morning” interview on Friday, January 3, 2025, Tibbitt praised the egoists of the many citizens behind the petition.
Below is a copy of the petition, along with a photo of Ordinance # 74, which they are seeking to overturn through citizen initiative and referendum.
