CMCH Man Arrested for Allegedly Breaking into Vehicle

A man from Cape May Court House has been arrested after cops say he broke into a vehicle late Wednesday night in the Villas.

34-year-old Gary R. Nelson is facing burglary, criminal mischief, and theft charges and remains in the Cape May County Correctional Facility as of Thursday afternoon.

Lower Township Police say they responded to the report of a vehicle burglary around 11:30 Wednesday night on East Virginia Avenue in the Villas. The victim told police their vehicle had been broken into and that there was extensive damage. Witnesses stated that the suspect, later identified as Nelson, had fled the area on foot.

A short time later, officers caught-up with Nelson in the area of East New York Avenue. He was allegedly in possession of stolen items from the burglarized vehicle and he was placed under arrest. Cops say they also found a pair of pliers that may have been used to commit the burglary.
