Cops: Body Found in Middle Township, NJ; Possibly that of Missing Teen
Cops in Middle Township say they found an unidentified body in a heavily wooded area on Wednesday and it may be that of a missing teenager.
The Middle Township Police Department says their officers and troopers with the New Jersey State Police K-9 Unit were conducting a follow-up investigation on a missing person’s case. During the search, authorities say an unidentified body was found in a wooded area along the 200 block of East Lena Street in Whitesboro.

According to authorities, "The human remains cannot be positively identified at this time, however, evidence found at the scene leads detectives to believe the individual is eighteen (18) year old Leila Bellamy of Whitesboro."
Bellamy, who, according to her Facebook page was raised in Cape May Court House, was last seen in Whitesboro around July 13th and reported missing shortly thereafter.
Numerous law enforcement agencies had been working on finding the missing teenager, including the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office, New Jersey State Police Missing Person’s Unit, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, the South Carolina Highway Patrol, and several sheriff's offices in South Carolina and Florida.
The Southern Regional Medical Office will conduct a thorough examination to confirm the identity of the individual.
