A man from Cape May Court House is facing a list of charges after cops say he choked a juvenile while on the beach last weekend.

The Wildwood Crest Police Department says their officers were dispatched to the beach at Toledo Avenue around 7:00 Saturday evening for the report of a man who was assaulting a juvenile. They say,

Officers were able to locate the individual in question, Gregory Bostard ... While Ptlm. Engel and Det. Collins were investigating the incident, Mr. Bostard became uncooperative and attempted to leave the scene. Mr. Bostard was told he was under arrest, however he refused to comply and a struggle ensued. Mr. Bostard was eventually taken into custody. During the struggle, one of the officers sustained minor injuries.

According to police, an investigation determined Bostard grabbed a juvenile around the throat and choked off the victim’s airway.

The victim, whose age was not released by police, was evaluated by Wildwood Crest Rescue Squad members.

52-year-old Gregory Bostard was charged with Obstruction of Justice, Aggravated Assault on Law Enforcement, Resisting Arrest, Aggravated Assault on a Juvenile, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. He is being held at the Cape May County Correctional Facility awaiting a bail hearing.

The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
