
Holy Spirit Alum David Hagaman Traded to Diamondbacks in Deadline Deal
Former Holy Spirit and Cedar Creek High School standout pitcher David Hagaman has been traded.
What’s Next for Hagaman
Hagaman, who played his college baseball at West Virginia and was drafted in the fourth round of the 2024 MLB Draft by the Texas Rangers, was traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks in a deal that involved pitcher Merrill Kelly ahead of the MLB Trade Deadline on Thursday.

Hagaman is raw and, at 22, remains in the low minors as he seeks to improve his control enough to allow his lively pitches to play.

Hagaman’s Minor League Performance Hagaman, from Egg Harbor City, was pitching for the Hickory Crawdads in Single A. This season between two levels, Hagaman was 0-1 with a 2.82 ERA, a 0.940 WHIP with 28 strikeouts in 22.1 innings pitched, appearing in eight games. He missed all of last year in professional baseball recovering from an internal brace procedure.
High School & Collegiate Background
While at Holy Spirit, Hagaman shined under head coach Steve Norman, with 81 strikeouts in 48.2 innings, allowing just 15 earned runs with a 2.13 ERA as a senior. He added 19 hits, including a home run and two doubles, for the Spartans. At Cedar Creek, he helped the Pirates advance to the 2019 Group 2 championship game, tossing 46.2 innings with 48 strikeouts over his two seasons. After high school, Hagaman pitched at West Virginia for two seasons in Morgantown for the Mountaineers before being drafted. This year, Brigantine's Trevor Cohen, also a Holy Spirit alum, was drafted out of Rutgers University in the third round of the MLB Draft by the San Francisco Giants.
