Daycare Centers, Summer Camps, Some Sports Returning to NJ
As the calendar turns to June, some elements of everyday life will reopen across the Garden State.
At his daily press conference on Friday, Gov. Murphy said daycare centers can reopen on Monday, June 15th. The state will soon be releasing standards to help those businesses resume operations safely.
NJ.com reports Murphy said, "Having these centers open throughout this emergency for the children of our essential workers has been a necessity for our doctors and nurses, public health and safety first responders, grocery and other essential workers, and their families. But, now, as we prepare to take the first true steps of our restart and recovery, and as more and more workers prepare to get back out to their jobs, we must ensure a continuum of care for their children."
Meanwhile, Gov. Murphy also announced non-contact organized sports activities can resume on June 22nd and youth day camps can start on July 6th...
...horse racing, without spectators in the stands, can resume as early as next weekend...
...and Gov. Murphy says he hopes to raise the limits on indoor gatherings to allow for larger religious services as early as June 12th.
WPVI-TV reports New Jersey reported about 1,100 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, which brings the statewide total to about 159,000. The death toll climbed by 131, reaching 11,531.
