New Jersey Senator Polistina Bill Passes: Teacher’s Receive Boost
New Jersey teachers will get a big pension boost, courtesy of a Senator Vince Polistina, R-NJ-2 legislative bill that recently passed in the New Jersey Senate.
Senator Vince Polistina To New Jersey Teachers
Teachers dedicate countless hours outside of the classroom helping their students grow both academically and personally, often serving as faculty advisors for clubs, sports, and other extracurricular activities," said Polistina. I'm proud that the New Jersey Senate recognized that commitment by passing this legislation, which ensures those additional responsibilities are properly accounted for when calculating a teacher's pension, said Polistina.
Current New Jersey Law Is Deficient
Under existing New Jersey law, the stipends earned by teachers for various extracurricular and co-curricular work are not included in their pension calculations. That’s wrong and should be corrected asap.
