
Fatal Pedestrian Car Crash In Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey
The Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey Police Department has confirmed that on Saturday May 17, 2025, a fatal car crash occurred at Delaware and Fernwood Avenues.
EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP POLICE DEPARTMENT HAS CONFIRMED THE FOLLOWING:
According to the Egg Harbor Township Police Department, here is what happened:
Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2014 Chevy Camaro operated by 71-year-old Gary Battisti of EHT, was traveling east on Delaware Ave approaching Fernwood Avenue, when a 2022 Mini Cooper operated by 19-year-old Sky Mejiadorado of EHT entered the intersection from the north.
CAR WENT OFF THE ROAD - STRIKING TWO JUVENILES
The Egg Harbor Township Police Department confirmed what happens from there.
“Mr. Battisti swerved to the right to avoid a collision, however, went off road and onto the grass shoulder. As Mr. Battisti went off road, two juveniles who had been walking home from Bargaintown Park were struck, one of which sustained critical injuries at the scene. Mr. Battisti's vehicle overturned causing him to become entrapped. Volunteers from Bargaintown, Cardiff, and Scullville Fire Department responded and extricated Mr. Battisti from the driver seat,” said the Egg Harbor Township Police Department.
ONE JUVENILE HAS DIED
One of the juveniles was taken to Shore Medical Center by the Egg Harbor Township EMS and AtlantiCare paramedics.
The juvenile ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
The second juvenile was treated at the scene with only minor injuries.
ROADS IN THE AREA WERE CLOSED
The roads were closed for 4 hours in the crash area to clear the scene and investigate.
