JACKSON — At least 92 people were evacuated from an assisted living facility in Ocean County after a fire erupted on Sunday morning.

Jackson Police said the fire at Bella Terra on Kathleen Drive broke out around 7:20 a.m. on the third floor of building D and was quickly extinguished by the sprinkler system. No one was injured, according to police. The cause of the fire is under investigation but police said the fire does not appear to be suspicious.

44 rooms were evacuated according to police. 33 residents were taken to Jackson Liberty High School while 26 residents were picked up by family members . The Bella Terra staff is working on a long term solution for those who evacuated.

Rescue teams from Lakewood, Brick, Millstone and Howell helped to transport residents to the high school.

The facility off West County Line is not far from the Lakewood border.
